About
Hamid was born in Karachi, Pakistan in the summer of ’69!
He grew up with a “horsey” background with his father being a well respected and successful racehorse trainer. Hamid became a jockey at a young age but was introduced to polo by his fathers best friend; the infamous Jaja Mian!
Jaja mentored Hamid into his life of polo and sought him the best opportunities, which led him to work for Sheikh Mohamed, patron of Palmera Polo Team in the UK during 1987. Hamid remained working as the manager of Palmera Polo Team, looking after the Sheikh and his family till 2010.
Still to this day Hamid plays a large part in the Sheikh’s son’s polo.
During Hamid’s time in Pakistan and the UK he has played a variety of polo at different levels, including charity matches playing alongside members of the British Royal family and achieved a playing handicap of 4-goals. He currently maintains a 3-goal handicap.
In 2008 Hamid was being sought by a variety of clients including schools. As a result he gained qualifications from the HPA as a recognised riding and polo instructor; he is also an HPA grade “A” professional umpire. HK Polo School is licensed and inspected annually by The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and their own vet of which he has passed every year. He holds full liability insurance with Lycetts insurance company with his certificates on display at Ranelagh Farm where He has been based since 2011.
